I am blessed to be connected to fabulous educators and administrators on line. They are don't live near me, we've never met, but one thing unites us - a desire to grow and learn to become the best that we can be so that we can assist our students become their best! It is our passion that unites us.
The amazing thing about twitter is that it makes the world a much smaller and more positive place for educators. A perfect example of this happened just this fall. I was having a difficult week. Don't get me wrong everything was fine within the walls of my classroom, in fact great things were happening, it was just all of the other "stuff" that was getting to me for some reason and I needed a boost. Often in situations like this it is easy to feel alone, but I was not. I had already registered for an on line learning opportunity on Saturday. I was able to go home and choose the sessions that I would attend for the DENVirtCon. Saturday would be a day of learning of my choice from 9 - 4!
I went to bed ready for the conference, but I still wasn't feeling good about my situation. I got up early for #SATChat at 7:30. This is an amazing group of administrators and educators who get together every Saturday and discuss the important issues facing schools today. They push each other to think critically and grow professionally. I always find it to be an encouraging time. If the topic is one that I am particularly interested in or if I am not awake enough to keep up with the 7:30 chat, there is #SATChatWC at 10:30 and they are very welcoming to those of us from the east.
Incredibly enough, Saturday's topic was on autonomous PD. I chatted and watched (they were streaming live from the #Edscape). My spirits rose and I remembered that I was not alone. I began my day with renewed energy and a commitment to learn what I needed to learn to be the best teacher that I can be! I know I have the support of hundreds of educators across the country and around the world!
Saturday was an amazing day of learning that started at 7:30 and ended at 4:00. I am truly blessed! Thank you all!
